Katherine Weaver, Laura Irish and Brendon Bennetts have connected in life from 3 different continents through the power of improv. Their fast and joyful bond is the inspiration for this show about "the family that we choose". From childhood friendships, new acquaintances, friendship in the digital world and friendships that turn into something more, enjoy their heartfelt and funny exploration of this significant force in our lives. Bring your bestie or come prepared to meet a new friend for life who might just be sitting in the chair next to you.
Brendon Bennetts has been teaching and directing improv for the Christchurch Court Jesters since 2002. He hosts comedy quiz podcast The Nerd Degree, teaches high school English, and in his spare time writes plays. Brendon most recently performed in Nelson as part of the improvised dream show, The Dream Team.
Katherine Weaver is an improvisor, actor, teacher and Co-Artistic Director of Impro Melbourne. She has performed and directed with Impro Melbourne in many seasons. Her love of performing is only matched by her love of teaching, which does for Impro Melbourne and at festivals both nationally and internationally.
Laura Irish is an award-winning actress, improviser, writer and the Artistic Director of Ghost Light Theatre and the Nelson Fringe Festival. Her most recent stage roles have included Viola in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream. She also recently adapted the Greek tragedy into a one-woman show about motherhood which she performed at the Dunedin Fringe.
They are all three best friends.
