Dear 2020 Fringe Participants! Welcome to your very own page for the Bay Landscapes Nelson Fringe Festival 2020. We are thrilled to be co-creating this incredible event with you. Our programme consists of 31 shows, 6 workshops, 8 special events and a generous Fringe Cafe for your Fringe-y pleasure. Enjoy!
Our Fringe is designed to connect creatives to one another. It is our hope that during this week you will deepen old relationships and forge new ones. Together, our community is stronger and great things are possible when we collaborate, share skills and support each other's work.

You’re invited to our opening night party!
Theme: Upcycled Chic
Dress in your thriftiest outfit made of reused and upcycled materials. Get creative with your badself and join us to celebrate the opening of our quirky little Festival. It’s been a long time coming and it’s going to be a great week in Nelson. Prize for best dressed. Enjoy the magical musical synthesis of Trio Jackson!
Fringe Night at Kismet

Hey Fringe Peeps, it’s Fringe Night at Kismet! Come on down to this groovy wee bar and say hello to your fellow Fringers. The Festival has booked out the top room for lounging and shooting the breeze. We’ll even shout a few rounds of truffle fries- yummo! http://kismet.co.nz/.
Balloon Twisting & The Princess Bride
Monday, August 17th, 9:00pm
Come play with everyone’s favourite balloon twister, Flossie the Balloon Lady! Floss has so many wiles when it comes to balloons. She will pass on some of these wiles to you as you create a balloon prop to enhance your viewing of… The Princess Bride. Popcorn! Did we mention popcorn? There will also be popcorn... alongside a princess and a bride and balloons. Fun times with your Fringe family. Venue: NCMA.
Meet Holly the Kea & Sprig and Fern
Wednesday, 19th of August, 11:00am
Say hello to our favourite Fringe kea, Holly! Yip, it’s a trip to our local mini zoo, Natureland, to have some time in the Kea Enclosure, followed by a pint and a bite at the Sprig. We’ll pick you up in the Fringe van from NCMA and go on a sea-side adventure! Note: this trip involves an entrance fee at Natureland and dosh for whatever you want to get at the Sprig. We’ll shout a round of fries! Please register at the NCMA box office, Natureland entry fee is $12
Hot Chocolate & Games Night
Thursday, August 20th, 10:30pm
Grab a blankie and a cushion and snuggle in for a cosy evening of hot choc drinking and good ole fashioned game play. Chat to your fellow Fringers, get to know each other and enjoy being in the company of friends. Venue: NCMA.
Closing Night Celebration & Awards
Saturday, August 22nd, 10:30pm
We did it! Come and celebrate an incredible week of creativity as we wrap the Festival up. This is a chance to congratulate each other and to recognise some of the outstanding moments and achievements from our wonderful week together. Venue: NCMA Foyer.
After Party at Red16
Saturday, August 22nd, 11:00pm-ish
Let’s keep the party going! Join us at Red16, 19 New Street, for drinks, nibbles, and music from local DJs. Celebrate our prize winners, look back on the memories of our cheeky little Festival and have a laugh or two before heading home.
Warning: expect lots of hugs and impromptu karaoke!
Sunday, August 23rd, 10am
Not quite ready to say goodbye to your Fringe friends? Come along to a casual brunch and/or a steaming-hot-cup-of-something-good at DeVille. This is a lovely way to connect and maybe even get planning for future collaborations. And… to say goodbye once more to those you won’t see for a while. Ahhhh… brunch with buddies, what a lovely epilogue.
