Creative New Zealand is the national arts development agency developing, investing in and advocating for the arts. Our purpose is to encourage, promote and support the arts in New Zealand for the benefit of all New Zealanders through funding, capability building, our international programme and advocacy. Our vision is one of dynamic and resilient arts valued in Aotearoa and internationally.

Rātā Foundation, formerly The Canterbury Community Trust, established in 1988, led by a board of 12 trustees who bring leadership and expertise across a wide range of disciplines. As the South Island’s largest philanthropic funder, Rātā Foundation receives no income from other funders or gaming machines making it unique and independent in the region’s philanthropic community. Over the last three decades we have assisted hundreds of organisations through grants totalling over $434 million to help communities in need.  This equates across our four funding regions - $333 million in Canterbury, $66 million in Nelson, $33 million in Marlborough and $0.5 million in the Chatham Islands.
